I've been very excited and impressed by this "media blitz" that has been taking place around the season 3 premiere of Broad City. Being one of my top 5 (maybe top 3???) shows ever and having named Abbi and Ilana as my ultimate role models and #girlboss goals, I obviously have a google alert out for everything published about them. Reading their interviews only makes me love them even more and appreciate their friendship and the pureness of the show.
I've compiled all of my favorite media moments leading up to tonight's season 3 premiere, so you're welcome.
When they, once again, prove that they do not care about getting your approval.
Here's Illana speaking to backstage magazine on the moment in season 2 episode 1 where she addresses the biggest mystery in human existence: whether it's okay for women to have pubic hair.
“They wanted it to be like, nothing, like Barbie pussy or whatever,” says Glazer about the initial trepidation over the “hair down there.” “But we were, like, ‘That’s gross. I have pubes. We all have pubes….’ And our executives, they fought for it with us! And then Comedy Central’s legal team, they were, like, ‘We’re prepared to fight this if we’re sued,’ which is awesome! The Comedy Central lawyers were prepared to fight for our pubes! It’s our right to bare pubes!” she says before throwing up the peace sign over a cup of mint tea with honey.
That time they were interviewed by Ellen Page, for Interview Magazine and the results just made me love them even more and feel more inspired than ever. Ellen also revealed one of her favorite BC moments, which not surprising, is one of my faves too.
ELLEN PAGE: Ilana, that moment when you realize Abbi's art show is at a café, you have this amazing moment where you're like, "You have been busting my balls all day over a sandwich shop?" That's a moment I'll never forget. That's the most simple but risky thing you could do, to say "sandwich shop" that way.
I would also like to take a moment of appreciation for their spread in Interview Magazine. So chic and modern yet so...THEM. Also Ilana is yawning in like 3/5 pictures.
Not to mention every single promotional video they've released for the season...
Season 3 premeires tonight, February 17, at 10 EST on Comedy Central. No I'm not getting paid to promote the show I just really love and believe in the show.
